a note on cookies
(10 posts)-
I've decided to streamline counting a little bit.
Haven't figured out yet how regularly I will do this, but starting from now until December 31st 2009, anyone who doesn't earn at least 1 cookie will lose the chance to redeem their points.
This will get rid of all the people cluttering up my excel sheet who are unlikely to earn more points.
I won't detract from the total website-wide amount earned, so bonus story counting will continue as usual. I just don't see the point of keeping track of cookie counts for people who don't make use of the system.
I'll write a full post on livejournal sometime this week, just thought I'd get that info out there.

An interesting idea, and one I may have to steal ;-)
~Lyn, earning her cookies.

You idea-stealer you! :P
At least you're safe now... heh.

Dude, do you really think I could make it till January without posting? Or tweeting about Above ground?
Reminds me - I'm going to do a post in my real, non-pseudonymous Livejournal on #WebFicWed. Do you have a blurb that's more than 100 chars you'd like me to use?

Errr... no? I'm crap at blurbs. I can write one if you need it!
And, yay!

I can come up with something if you don't.
Assume I'll do this this evening, when I have time to properly journal - 9 or 10 EST

It'd be great if you could do it... I'm a little overwhelmed at the mo with secret #3d1d stuff + figuring out next week's interview + all the usual stuff. Oh yes I should start chapter 17 soon shouldn't I? :P

Clarification (and slightly earlier deadline) all now available on livejournal.

New deadline for clearing out - the Guild will seize ownership of cookies belonging to anyone who doesn't earn cookies in the period between January 1 2010 and March 1 2010

Important announcement regarding the reward system: I have decided to discontinue cookie counting.
Why?
• Few use their cookies
It's only ever the usual suspects making use of the rewards available. I had hoped the topic tag system would solve this, but it doesn't seem to be working. I then added in an expiry date for cookies, but that hasn't influenced matters either.• It takes too much time
I keep track of cookie counts manually using an excel document which has all these fancy equations built in, but it still takes a lot of time and energy to keep track of all the different ways people can earn points. I'm not tech savvy enough to implement a better system, and considering how few use their cookies anyway, it doesn't seem worth the time.• It's hard to keep an accurate account
If (as has happened recently) I'm off line for any length of time, I fall behind on counting and there is no way to make sure I catch every detail. It doesn't seem efficient to have a system so reliable on my online presence. What happens now?
If you have cookies (you can check here), you can still spend them as before requesting topic tags, character questions, etc. You cannot however earn any more.Future rewards system?
I am thinking of developing the qazyagent section -- thereby offering time-sensitive rewards in exchange for reader participation in some way. Suggestions for development in this area are most welcome!
