Carbin on "iPhone 4 Cases: Heavy duty protection, and more Verizon case"

iPhone 4 Cases: Heavy dutyiphone 5 case protection, and more Verizon case
When you design a smartphone that’s encased in glass, there will naturally be concerns about the durability of said phone. Though theipad 2 silicone cases has, by most accounts, held up perfectly fine despite its glassy nature, there seems to be increasing demand for heavy-duty cases that can quite literally turn the iPhone 4 into a wall-piercing projectile. In non-military-grade case-related news, more and more manufacturers are releasing Verizonipad 2 keyboard casescompatible models—no big surprise there—and beautiful, carved wooden cases seem to be making a comeback. Read on for this week’s scoop on new iPhone 4 cases

So umm... it looks like this place is abandon. No one about, hasn't been for months. No links from the main page or anywhere else I looked.

Can I assume everything is blogged, tweeted, posted, etc strait to the main page or to Facebook now?

As you may now, I am planning a sequel to be launched April/May hopefully....

But that's it - I'm just in the planning stages, still. I have a rough overview of ideas, but I'm curious to hear about what you'd like to see more of.

There may also be an interlude between the books - an exterlude if you will - into the history of a certain character. Nothing certain yet though.

Also if anyone can think of a good title for the sequel?

I've decided to streamline counting a little bit.

Haven't figured out yet how regularly I will do this, but starting from now until December 31st 2009, anyone who doesn't earn at least 1 cookie will lose the chance to redeem their points.

This will get rid of all the people cluttering up my excel sheet who are unlikely to earn more points.

I won't detract from the total website-wide amount earned, so bonus story counting will continue as usual. I just don't see the point of keeping track of cookie counts for people who don't make use of the system.

I'll write a full post on livejournal sometime this week, just thought I'd get that info out there.

Have you seen the little bit of info on the wiki, too?

I know a monthly update schedule is SLOW but I want to turn out something a little more polished than Above Ground, which equals more work. So, we'll see how it goes... at least this way I know I won't miss the first few deadlines!

I've actually spent a lot of time recently thinking about Jake and Fang's past. It started with my writing the bonus story of their first meeting, Gratitude, which is followed up by the 3-months later story Songbirds, which is in turn continued in the rather more smutty Songbirds Part 2.

What do you think of Jake/Fang's relationship (as friends or otherwise)?

Also, for those wimps *cougheSpyrecough* who can't read smut, I'm trying to make a non-smutty version of Part 2. Trying being the operative word. :D I can't figure out where to draw the line -- what's too smutty for wimps to read?

As I'm sure you already know, bonus stories are short stories, scenes and clippets offering insight into the characters, setting, history, etc. Things that are not explained in the main arc of Above Ground will here have a chance to flourish.

Is there anything in particular you'd like to see? Any characters? Races? Please list your suggestions here.

The stories I owe you, in order, are:
#1 Something about werehorses
#2 More about the Gods Below

If you can't be bothered to wait, you can buy your choice of bonus story with 60 cookies & the topic will be bumped to the top of the queue.

So let me know what topics you'd like covered! Go on!

“He was lean and menacing as a wild dog, and no matter how he hunched on the bench his presence crowded the jail car until it was hard to breathe in there.” – from Chapter 1

This is a rip-roaring Western with magic and gods mixed in, which takes you from the grittiness of prison to the wonders of a secret Eden.

Warning - not for anyone who doesn't like sex, violence, or gay relationships. Also, the prologue, while giving a lot of essential backstory, is badly written. I promise though as soon as you get through it, the rest makes up for it bigtime.

On twitter we've been RPing some meet-ups between different characters (Jake is on twitter as @lakesidejake and Howl is on there as @hoowl).

I thought it'd be fun to write things out fully, based on those RPs, but wasn't sure where to post them... SO I decided to post them here!

Below is Part 1 of Jake's Tales, in which he meets Shiva, from Addergoole!

--------------------

Warnings: this is entirely non-canon, and silly, and may have smut later on.

Jake's Tales - Part 1

******
Twitter conversation between @lakesidejake and @ShivCat
<lakesidejake> You. Me. Meet up. Soon!
<ShivCat> *laugh* way with words, don'tcha have?
<lakesidejake> Pretty women make me speechless.
<ShivCat> I guess you'll have to find another use for your mouth, then.
<lakesidejake> *smirks* Any suggestions?
<ShivCat> They require us to be in the same location - where are you right now?
<lakesidejake> I'm daydreaming that I'm right next to you. Oh, physically? In Rivertown - a town south of the Runevasser mountain range.
<ShivCat> I can probably find that. When do you want to get together?
<lakesidejake> How about now, if you're not busy? ;)

******

Jake sent off the message, then looked up, only to find Fang and Howl staring at him, the former amused, the latter impatient.

“Stop talking to people with the box,” Howl whined, his lower lip jutting out. “I’m hungry and you walk soo slowly when you’re writing.”

Fang chuckled. “Patience, Howl. Jake’s mental facilities aren’t capable of entertaining two simultaneous actions.” Then, to Jake, he said, “Perhaps you could save the messaging for when we get to the brewery?”

Jake rolled his eyes at both of them. “You guys go on ahead. I might be meeting someone today, so—”

The words were barely out of his mouth when, with a small pop, someone appeared beside him. Jake jumped, a little startled, but recovered quickly, recognizing Shiva from the bizarre dating show he’d watched several weeks back.

“Why, hello,” he drawled, looking her up and down. She was pretty, tall and slim, with hair as red as Amber’s. Her jeans were just on the right side of tight.

“Hello.” Her answering grin was feline-sharp, and behind her back he could see her tail twitching in amusement. “So, what’s new?”

“I think you’re the newest thing here.” He smiled, a lazy expression. “You’re even lovelier in person than on TV, I must say.” He ignored Howl’s amused sniggering, behind him.

“And you’re even sweeter than you are online.” She paused, glanced around in interest, seeming to soak up the sunshine. “Do you want to show me around, or do you want to come see my school?”

“Lady’s choice.” Then he winked. “But if I have to pick one, I’ll admit to wanting to learn more about you.”

Her laughter was full and throaty, full of promises. “And here I thought you were just saying that to get in my pants.”

“Well, I can’t say I’m adverse to that, either.”

“No surprise there.”

Fang cleared his throat. Jake turned around to find him smiling at both of them, the expression a little strained. “Howl and I shall just peruse the markets, then. Perhaps we can meet up there afterwards.”
He nodded at both of them, then steered Howl down the street. As they rounded the corner, Jake heard Howl say, “Did you see her tail?!”

Jake turned back around to face Shiva, inwardly cursing Fang for being so rude as to not introduce himself. But Fang was odd like that sometimes, temperamental. Luckily Shiva didn’t seem to mind. On the contrary, she was still smiling, focused solely on him.

“So...” She was eyeing him up, Jake was pleased to notice. “Impress me, hotshot.”

He glanced up and down the street, listening to make sure no one was approaching. All clear, thankfully. He wouldn’t have been able to do what he wanted had someone been watching, and he had a feeling he needed to if he wanted to get lucky.

Jake smirked at Shiva. “Well, you like your boys under you.” He slid down on to the ground, so that he was kneeling, his face right by her waist. He resisted the urge to lean in closer and tease her, but he was intensely aware of the small stretch of exposed skin between the hem of her shirt and her jeans. “Is that good?”

Shiva actually purred, which he counted as a victory; he’d read her right, then. “Mm... You are impatient. But I like.” She tousled his hair playfully. “Right here?”

Of course not right here, but Jake knew how to play along. He tilted his head upwards to nuzzle her hand, his tongue darting out to lick her palm. “Wherever you want.”

She giggled. “Oh, you’re adorable. Here seems like a beautiful place.”

Jake kept smiling, although he was cursing inside. Was she serious? He had to backtrack, and now. “We could go for a walk along the lake first, if you like. The forests are pretty secluded, and the mountain view is stunning.”

Shiva ran her hand along his neck with a hint of possessiveness he couldn’t quite understand. She seemed reluctant to pull her hand away. “That sounds beautiful.”

Jake sighed silently with relief, feeling back in control. “It won’t take long to get there.” He stood up, and held out his hand. “May I?”

She set her hand in his, smiling, clearly charmed, so Jake decided to push his luck. He leant down and kissed the back of her hand, peering up at her through his lashes. “It’s right this way.”

And when Shiva blushed and let him lead her away from the town, Jake couldn’t help but smirk.

To be continued...

I need to keep track of these someplace, so why not here?

Feel free to throw in your suggestions - anything you spot that doesn't make sense, that needs expanding, etc - because the more feedback I get, the better!

GENERAL COMMENTS
- Better explanation of the different factions, of the political structure above ground, and underground etc
- Explain levels of technology above ground vs. below ground
- More description needed esp. of the settings
- More characterization of Lilith - she should be reacting more, thinking about home, needs more of a reason to be engaged with her surroundings etc. More proactive.
- The two plot threads (Lilith and the corruption/politics of life above ground) need to be meshed better

PROLOGUE
- Tighten it, make it snappier

CHAPTER 3
- Add in mention of Emma's sister Liz

CHAPTER 4
- Lilith should ask about law enforcement or other authority, who can help her. Probably want to go back to theatre area ?
- Silver should explain police / government / night hunters

CHAPTER 5
- Lilith doesn't question why Sla'ik knows she is with a friend - should be more wary?

CHAPTER 6
- "Poppet" too reminiscent of Pirates of the Carribean - pulls reader out of the story

CHAPTER 26
- Sam should accuse Lilith of being a spy of someone specific, this needs to be clearer

Can I just say the story has veered slightly off course with the whole Sam thing? Totally wasn't expecting that.

A good chunk of these two chapters were actually reworked scenes from an old abandoned novel of mine. Felt good to put them to use!
